Climate action A new international climate agreement was adopted in Paris in December 2015 and is due to enter in force in 2020. The EU contributes to the global effort to fight climate change.
The European Commission is looking at cost-efficient ways to make the European economy more climate-friendly and less energy-consuming. By 2050, the European Union could cut most of its greenhouse gas emissions.
Climate action is incorporated into the whole EU budget. From 2014-2020, 20% of the EU budget goes to climate related action.
